Work Experience

Students are employed, for pay, in business or industry. The students'jobs need not be related to a stated career goal or the students'courses of study at Pilarcitos High School.

In order for a student to earn work experience school credit, the student, the employer, and the school district must meet their respective responsibilities as outlined in the Work Permit Handbook for CA Schools. Students must attend class for instruction and counseling once a week for an entire class period. Pilarcitos students may be enrolled in work experience at any time during the year.

Students are granted school credit on a variable credit system at Pilarcitos High School, based on the number of successful work hours completed during any given semester. School credit is limited to a maximum of 40 work experience credits during the students'4 years high school. Not more than 30 of these credits may be granted towards graduation requirements at Pilarcitos High School.
